On Saturday 1st October we will be having our very first special Garage City (GC) Reunion, a fundraiser for our Stevie.

In 1987 myself & Steve travelled to New York City for the very first time as part of Norman Jay’s squad, as he was booked to play at the NYC Music Seminar. On that trip we were totally blessed to have visited the legendary Paradise Garage Club and hear the king, Larry Levan play.

We didn’t have a lot of knowledge about the Paradise Garage or Larry prior to entering that amazing venue, but what happened once inside just blew our minds! The club, music, vibe, people and Larry – it was just made for us!

It was four years later when my twin brother Stevie took the idea and started our very own Paradise Garage, bringing that NYC sound to London. Stevie came up with the name ‘Garage City’ and thus our baby was born in 1991, our very first house night. It was a collaboration with Kiss FM and together we made history.

For more than 11 years we hosted weekly parties – that’s 573 Saturday nights of pure organic soulful house. We had almost every respectable DJ & artist worldwide playing alongside us and our loyal residents, Paul Trouble Anderson, Chrissy T, Rude Boy Rupert and Chris Williams. Guest DJs included Frankie Knuckles, MAW Louie Vega & Kenny Dope, Roger Sanchez, Derek Carter, Dave Lee, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries, CJ Mackintosh, Eric Morillo, Benji Candelario, Danny Buddha Morales, Ten City, Mark Knight, Barbara Tucker, Dimitri from Paris, India, Julie McKnight, BeBe Winans Norman Jay, DJ Disciple, Danny Tenaglia, Terry Hunter, Simon Dunmore, Kenny Carpenter, plus many more.

GC was also the first UK soulful house brand to have a weekly, seasonal residency in Ibiza in 1994 and we held nights in Italy and across Europe. Since the last weekly party in 2001, there hasn’t been an official reunion, so I thought it would just be fitting to do it for Stevie and raise funds for his future care and the family home adaptations.

The day will be a full 12.5hrs of Garage City classics across two rooms, plus the terrace.

This will be Part 1 of many more as we just couldn’t put all the UK djs on one party, let alone international guests, and we want everyone who has played before to come and share that GC love.
