GET SHAKES Occasionally a band comes along that defines the times so perfectly, you wonder why no one had thought of it before. Brothers Matt and Darren Farrow are Shakes, and they have found the missing link between the indie rock sound du jour, and the vogue-ish electro sound currently ruling Europe's dancefloors. Like a Talking Heads for 2006, they fire out clever indie rock and abrasive post-punk, while always keeping an ear on what makes people jack, as heard on their debut single 'Sister Self Doubt' - a groove-ridden Adam And The Ants meets New York's Liquid Liquid
PORTASOUND The band create and master their tracks in Michael's bedroom studio from a large range of instruments, both analogue and digital, in a bid to make original and unusual music. One of their main reasons for starting was to spend more time together, creating interesting sounds and having fun and less time in the pub. The band wasn't born on a wish to attain any great musical success but as an output for their own enjoyment. So what you hear when you listen to Portasound is a kind of sonic embodiment of their personalities and friendship (a sonification if you will).
CHIK BUDO am a super fun popular music combo by the name of Chik Budo. I dont sing sweet songs about love or bamboozle you with an aggressive political agenda. Instead I try to make you happy by blasting you with a squalling noise for approximately 30 minutes. Dont worry if this sounds scary. Trust me, you will enjoy it.
LIGHTHOUSES "Imagine Justice crossed with David Bowie meets Bloc Party" - Waster (at Liquid & Envy), Portsmouth

If you want to know the two words that will be on the lips of London's coolest kids in 2009, just think BLACK MASA. Previously the club scene's biggest secret this electro duo are set to make it big this year, with their blend of dirty beats and tongue in cheek mash ups. Describing themselves as 'Like 2 Many DJs but not as good' could be a tad modest, if any of their recent gigs are to go by. Definitely ones to watch..."
