WEDNESDAY 17th MARCH
MAIN HALL: 40 WATT CLUB PRESENTS:
ARTEFACTS FOR SPACE TRAVEL + NEON HIGHWIRE + SIR YES SIR + DOUBLE RAINBOW
7:30PM - 11:00PM
ARTEFACTS FOR SPACE TRAVEL are a 'gang of South London Noise Psychos' (Dazed and Confused) who churn out 'toxic punk sludge' (Stool Pigeon) and 'weirdo lo-fi psych rock' (Timeout) Sounds great doesn't it! Come and check them out...
NEON HIGHWIRE is three determined men from two countries with one goal: to make you dance like a grizzly bear on a Turkish hotplate. If it weren't for a series of happy coincidences involving stolen shoes, broken synthesisers and port, it may never have happened. A fusion of dirty electro and angular post-rock guitar soundscapes, their sound is strapped onto intricate structures with three part vocals that amplify and propel the songs to their irresistible climaxes.
SIR YES SIR. Somewhere I have a recording of the Wedding Present playing 'Box Elder' by Pavement. So, I would wager, have SYS. Not that there is anything wrong with that, to quote Jerry Seinfeld. Sir Yes Sir ape their heroes right down to the check plaid shirts and yelped vocals. The guitars rattle along in a hundred mile an hour chime. There's nothing deep, nothing difficult, just good clean fun.
DOUBLE RAINBOW are a big stupid rock band with too many guitarists? A friend once said we sounded like Roxy Music meets Kraftwerk but played by the Boss. Which sounds cool but doesn't really describes what we actually sound like. You could say we live in Acton and Hackney, or Acktackeney as we like to call it, and that most of us are from Chester.

Fiction is back from our brief hiatus to shake up your Wednesday nights once again with our tried-and-tested formula of drinking, dancing and party games that may or may not leave your dignity intact. The quiz is harder, the prizes are better and we've got a brand new collection of DJs ready to broaden your musical horizons as we attempt to cross as many genres as possible in just one evening. From Dubstep to Reggae and everything in between, get ready for an alcohol-fuelled journey through musical history.
Art exhibition may or may not go ahead, we need to try and see how many people we can get who are able to exhibit work at relatively short notice. I'll let you know if it's definately happening and I'll also send over the DJ lineup once that's sorted.
